The "Battle of the Thirty" in Ploërmel: 30 French knights challenge and defeat 30 British knights. During the battle, the French captain, Beaumanoir, says he is thirsty. Another French knight answers: "Drink your blood, Beaumanoir".

Le Combat des Trente à Ploërmel. 30 chevaliers français défient et battent 30 chevaliers anglais. Leur capitaine s'étant plaint de la soif au cours du combat, un de ses camarades lui répond : "Bois ton sang, Beaumanoir, et tu n'auras plus soif".

In Dogotché (Chad), captain Jérusalemy and his patrol attack more than 1,000 warriors followed by a hord of pillagers. After several hours of combat, the ennemy flies away, losing 400 men.
